Rico Neck Straps

In the modern musical world, choice has become more of an expectation rather than a novelty or surprise. It is no wonder then that this has extended not just from reeds, instruments, storage of both, music publications to name but a few products but also accessories of which one of the simplest would have to be the trustworthy and forever necessary neck-strap. RICO have recently released a series of saxophone neck-straps complete with a few of their own innovations of a curved hook (see picture), plastic quick adjust buckle and some fashionable neck band material.

On the topic of the curved hook – if one can imagine a disfigured ‘&’ sign then understanding the security of attaching the saxophone is more possible. The adjusting mechanism is such that I would defy any student to try to bollocks up the strap [readers can probably tell the writer has had vast experience in unravelling neck-straps such that she is now a national contestant in macramé].
As for the material – possibly the most attractive I have seen for some time now though was initially concerned about the width of the strap with respect to comfort on the neck. After some use, the strap gives no more or less discomfort for the neck than any other strap holding such a weight. In addition none of the parts stretch thus once the strap is set, it stays.

Rating: a good product suitable for performers of any standard and ability.
